Glitterbug: Art bag with found curiosities and vintage jewels

Price £195.00

One of a kind vintage bag decorated with upcycled curiosities and pieces of old jewellery found by acclaimed British artist, Annie Sherburne. Each piece is totally unique and a work of art in its own right. This dark reddish brown bag appears to be in just about mint condition and dates from the time when Boots (the chemist) was selling handbags. Decorated with a very eclectic mix of curious objects and ephemera, including a trunk-clad surfer and a moving doll’s eye. The bag is named after the gold slogan ‘Glitterbug’ (or perhaps it's Gitterbug?!) that appears at the bottom of the bag. Measures approx 36 x 16 x 6 cm (excluding handle).

Curiously collectable as heirloom pieces, these bags are simply stunning. Annie likes to experiment, so no bag is alike: Some are adorned with old watch faces, straps and components (very Steampunk) others have handwritten labels and curious ephemera. Whatever the style, each bag is a decorative artwork that is part pattern and part painting effect. Every fashionably arty girl should have one.
