La Negresse captive - plaster bust

This is a limited edition numbered bust, created in plaster by StyleCurious featured sculptor, Hacene Sadoune. The bust is approximately 65 cm high and weighs 7-10 kg. The bust entitled La Negresse captive is a reproduction of a work by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-75), the original of which is in Musee des Beaux-Arts in his birth place, Valenciennes, (although I found this info about the sculpture at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art – click link to view). These busts combine classic craftsmanship with a curiously colourful and quirky modern twist.
