Set up by John and Sheila Francis on the Isle of Wight in the late 1970s, Chessell pottery has quite a following by collectors of retro ceramics. Apparently, this baby dragon goes by the name of Wilbur – though such information could always be the stuff of legend. Anyway, this ornamental egg would make a very unusual gift for all manner of occasions – as a curious Easter egg - or for someone English, Portuguese, or one of the many other nationalities that celebrate the legend of St George… or could this be a Welsh dragon, perhaps? I’m curious to know.
