Original antique floral dome measuring 56cm high x 20 cm diameter at the circular base - as featured in our ShopCurious blog. Marriage globes were popular keepsakes around the turn of the century. A bride's wedding crown, flowers and other family momentos were artfully arranged under a glass dome. This one features an ornamental marble pot with carved vine motif (clusters of grapes signify prosperity), filled with hand sewn silk thread arts and crafts style flowers. There are also some tall grasses, possibly symbolising the gift of life, plus two tiny elaborate hand made baskets and a crocheted floral corsage.
