The book encompasses the history of fashion illustration, advertising and the press as well as drawing techniques, the fashion industry and the 1940s lifestyle. Best of all are the fabulous sketches, not just from Marshall, but also from other artists and illustrators of the early 20th century, including Charles Dana Gibson, Ruth Sigrid Grafstrom, Carl Erikson, Count Rene de Bouet Willaumez, Ruth Sheradski, Pearl Falconer and many more.
