This is a typical piece of ethnic figural chalkware. After the 1950s and the post civil rights movement, black collectibles were considered by many to be insulting and many pieces were destroyed. Although production came to an end, from the 1970s there has been renewed interest, notably from high profile black people around the world, particularly in America. Curiously collectable.
