Swoboda

Vintage pendant necklace with semi precious stones

Price £240.00

Unique early 1960s vintage pendant from west coast USA. The Swoboda brand of costume jewellery was favoured by Hollywood stars and dignitaries of the late 1950s and early ‘60s, including Nancy Reagan, who had some pieces specially commissioned for her. This exquisite example features an oriental wise man in a garden of flowers carved from semi precious stones including, jade, rice pearls, cultured pearls and coral – together with a bird, possibly a crane whose eye is jewelled with a single red stone. The pendant is approximately 7 x 8 cm in diameter. The necklace is also of intricate design and embellished with coral.

Stunning piece of history that’s beautifully handcrafted and totally unique. A collectable curiosity that could be quite a talking point at parties. Does anyone know what the oriental scene on the pendant represents or signifies? If so, please let me know.
