" I get lost. I get lost in the city, in the streets, in the alleyways. I take a picture of a door, a wall, a building. When I go home, I paint, I tear up and I go back to the street with a craft paper roll.  Downtown  is a piece of a city that I found somewhere and I pasted farther away. It’s a piece of life, a piece of paper which just needs to be hung somewhere to come alive again. Turned into a Tink,  Downtown  places on a moving body an urban and static universe. It is a gateway to outside, elsewhere and others. "

"Born in 1975, YZ is an artist who has managed to set her style in urban space. In 2003, she became famous through the creation of a dark and enigmatic face (Open Your Eyes) that quickly came to dominate walls in Paris, Berlin, New York, Bamako or Hong-Kong. Represented by Galerie Bailly Contemporain, she was recently part of the exhibition 'Né dans la Rue – Graffiti' at Fondation Cartier. If she has focused her artistic approach on portraits so far, her new project Downtown  celebrates city’s walls, moved and revived somewhere else. "
