"Gilles Balmet's Tinks follow in inspiration his Untitled (Rorschach) series – 2004-2009 –, based on Dr. Rorschach's well known psychodiagnosis test. Balmet's dripping technique, on a surface folded along symmetrical lines, produces rich and complex networks of lines and interrupted, repeat patterns, which in turn become a canvas for the viewers interpretation of the vivid figures or abstract totems it offers.

Born in 1979, Gilles Balmet is a multidisciplinary and fascinating artist. Balmet's resume includes exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, the FRAC Champagne Ardennes, the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, the Petit Palais, Fine Arts Museum of Paris. He designed a series of display windows for Hermes (2006) and was part of the Incipit exhibit, curated in 2006 by Charlotte Laubard for the Ricard Foundation.
