“There are several stand-out charms on this necklace - a tie, perhaps, between the engraved pencil holder (twist it to get the lead!) and the mother of pearl horn; the romantic in me loves the pencil – from the early 20th century, when not everyone could read and write, this stands as a symbol, not only of education, but also the pursuit of something more – when I look at this piece, I imagine a Dickens-like winter evening, spent writing by moonlight; to juxtapose this, I was drawn to the sexiness of the horn, collected from my favorite antique market in New York.”
