Exquisite, hand embroidered, pink silk-satin kimono gown, featuring an array of flowers, birds and traditional Japanese rural village scenes, with silky pink lining.
Likely to have been especially made for export to the European market, this kimono probably dates from the 1920s or ‘30s, following on from the huge upsurge in demand for Japanese inspired clothing and Japonisme in design that took hold in the late 19th century.
Ideal for lounging around during lockdown, kimonos make stylish dressing gowns. Their exquisite fabrics and textile designs mean they are also wearable works of art, perfect for when galleries and museums reopen and arty events recommence, or as decorative artworks for the home.
One size 8-14. 49 inches/124.5 cm long. Very good vintage condition, just a slight pull in the fabric at the base of collar, as can be seen from the images. Matching lace belt available, upon request.
